Mysterious Weight Loss May Signal Alzheimer's

Losing weight for no apparent reason may be an early sign of Alzheimer's, according to a new study in the journal Neurology. Out of nearly 800 senior Catholic clergy, those who dropped roughly five pounds a year over several years had a 35 percent greater chance of developing Alzheimer's later on. Unexplained weight loss is a symptom, rather than a cause of memory loss, but authors of the study say that such declines may help predict Alzheimer's risk.
